On April 28, the signing ceremony for the joint innovation consortium established by Lizhong Group, BNBM Paint and Hebei University of Technology was held at Lizhong Research Institute. The three parties will carry out in-depth cooperation on the research of localization of paint and powder materials for aluminum alloy wheels and development of supporting powder coating systems for magnesium alloy wheels, striving to break through bottlenecks in key coating technologies and promote independent, controllable and high-quality development of the automotive lightweight component industrial chain.

Wang Huiyuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Hebei University of Technology, Zang Ligen, Founder of Lizhong Group, Chen Yan, Chairman of BNBM Paint Co., Ltd., Mu Jinyao, Chairman of Tianjin Dongyi Magnesium Products Co., Ltd., and other guests attended the ceremony. Zang Liguo, Co-founder and Director of Lizhong Group, Professor Liang Chunyong from Hebei University of Technology, and Luo Biao, General Manager of BNBM Powder, signed the agreement on behalf of the three parties respectively.

At the signing meeting, Mu Jinyao, Chairman of Tianjin Dongyi Magnesium, introduced the company’s leading position in the magnesium alloy industry. Vice President Wang Huiyuan presented the latest R&D progress of magnesium alloy materials and magnesium alloy injection molding technologies. Zang Ligen, Founder of Lizhong Group, briefed the guests on the Group’s development overview, toured them around the research institute and intelligent production lines, and stated that Lizhong would cooperate with Hebei University of Technology, BNBM Paint and Tianjin Dongyi Magnesium to develop full-chain technologies covering raw materials, wheel manufacturing and post-coating processes for magnesium alloy wheels.

Under the agreement, the three parties will set up a joint research center, hold regular technical exchanges and high-end forums, integrate resources to apply for national scientific research projects, and accelerate the commercialization of technological achievements. Lizhong Group will provide extensive verification scenarios and testing support for project implementation and achievement transformation. Meanwhile, the three sides will jointly cultivate high-level talents including engineering masters and doctors, delivering professional technical support for the industrial chain.

Driven by the national Dual Carbon goals, automotive lightweighting has become an irreversible industry trend. The cooperation between Lizhong Group, BNBM Paint and Hebei University of Technology will accelerate the upgrading of domestic coating technologies, provide cost-effective, low-carbon and eco-friendly coating solutions for the global automotive industry chain, and inject strong impetus into China’s intelligent manufacturing upgrading to high-end levels.
